Strengthening
Our Leaders
The Strengthening Our Leaders (SOL) program serves as one of NoVAC’s signature programs and has provided educational support for youth ages 8-14 in partnership with the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Branch of the Boys and Girls Club for over 15 years. During the SOL program, elementary and middle school students receive tutoring twice a week in math and reading as well as test-taking skills with the goal of preparing them for the Virginia SOL (Standards of Learning) standardized tests.

Students are pre-tested at the beginning of the program to identify their current levels in each subject and the program curriculum is tailored to address areas where they need help. Activities include educational games, grade-specific worksheets, math quizzes and student biographies.
During the program year, meeting times/locations will be scheduled with advanced notice.

Delta Academy
introduces at-risk girls, ages 11-14, to programs in math, science, and technology.
Delta GEMS
develops strong, confident, and goal-oriented young women and prepares them to take an active role in their success and in society. (High School Age includes 14-18).
EMBODI
is designed to serve as a motivational and empowerment tool that targets young, African American males. (High School Age includes 14-18).
SOL
provides educational support for ages 8-14 and/or grades 3-8 with the goal of preparing students for the Virginia SOL standardized tests.
