 The chapter utilized the mission statement of the National Organization.

NOTABLE PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  Linda Byrd-Johnson, Ph.D. is the Senior Director of Student Service and Acting Senior Director of Institutional Service at the Office of Postsecondary Education, U.S. Department of Education. She was recognized by Patricia Roberts Harris, Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, as an Outstanding Employee (1979). Later in her career she was selected to represent the U.S. Department of Education to travel to Japan and meet with the Ministry of Education and exchange ideas regarding higher education. She has also been recognized by Howard University as a Distinguished Alumnus of the African Studies and Research Department, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Throughout her career, Soror Byrd-Johnson has worked extensively to increase disenfranchised students’ college completion

NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS CHAPTER PRESIDENT:

          Under her leadership, NoVAC successfully advanced the theme articulated for the 45th National Convention: “Answering the Challenge: Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service” through a steadfast commitment to ensure that the chapter remained a vibrant, visionary, energetic, purposeful, and cohesive force in the Northern Virginia community.

PRESIDENTIAL NUGGET TO IMPART ON NOVAC:

  "When you become president of NoVAC, you are gifted with dedicated Sorors. In order to successfully lead NoVAC, you have a responsibility to demonstrate your commitment to our cardinal virtues and thus to them. You in turn must show them that you trust them. People who really feel empowered, will always deliver."
