The Arts and Letters Committee promotes individual and community awareness of the various fields of artistic endeavors. This committee supports organizations who foster artistic and related disciplines through encouraging the development of individual and collective skills in the liberal arts by creating opportunities for the display of talent in all aspects of the arts – especially those created by black artisans.

The contributions of African Americans and their institutions have often been overlooked or understated. The Arts & Letters Committee chronicles the contributions of African Americans and their institutions to the development and progress of Northern Virginia and the larger society by providing for the cultural enrichment of community members and organizing activities including:

 o  Emerging Artist Showcase

 o  Delta Red Carpet Events (Movie Screenings)

 o  Book Clubs

o Poetry Workshops

o Painting with a Twist

 o  Etiquette Workshops
