NOTABLE PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

 Soror Fleet was a reading teacher in the Arlington County School System for more than 31 years serving as its first black reading teacher. A new elementary school bearing her name, the Alice West Fleet Elementary School, opened in Arlington in September 2019. She was a member of the following organizations including the Democratic Central Committee in Richmond, the International Committee of the YMCA, the Arlington Association of University Women, and Arlington Association of University Women. She served as national director of Health Career Information for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and director of the Sheltered Occupational Center of Northern Virginia. She also established the Veterans Memorial YMCA in South Arlington and was the Sorority’s 4th South Atlantic Regional Director, serving from1970-1972. 

 

NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS CHAPTER PRESIDENT:

  In 1968, NoVAC initiated four new members.

PRESIDENTIAL NUGGET TO IMPART ON NOVAC:

  Her lifelong motto and advice to young people of today is “Let nothing and no one stop you.”
